About CITD

Named after former Oklahoma Congressman Wes Watkins, a visionary leader who has devoted his life to making things better for others, the Wes Watkins Center for International Trade Development (CITD) was founded in 1990 and strives to bring the knowledge, network and resources of OSU to make Oklahoma more globally competitive, increasing trade and creating jobs to keep Oklahoma companies and students in the state to build their futures.

"His vision is to witness the formation of a College of International Studies, housed in the existing Wes Watkins Center, where students would be trained in the discipline of doing business with the world, opening up international markets in Asia, Africa, South America, and Europe to products born and bred in Oklahoma, by Oklahomans."  – Making Things Better: Wes Watkins' Legacy of Leadership (2016)

In addition, the CITD operates a fully accredited International Trade Center (ITC) that is part of the Oklahoma Small Business Development Center (SBDC) network. It assists entrepreneurs and businesses navigating the international trade journey.
