Biography
John Schoeneman is an assistant professor at Oklahoma State University in the School of Global Studies. He holds a dual-title Ph.D. in political science and social data analytics from Pennsylvania State University. He also holds master degrees from the London School of Economics and the University of California, at San Diego. Substantively, his research agenda focuses on power in international political and economic networks with a particular interest in foreign direct investment, trade, and corporate board networks. Methodologically, his interests are social network analysis models, text analysis, and machine learning. Current projects include identifying human trafficking networks using online escort ads, leveraging network structure to determine the impact of infrastructure on trade, and examining corporate executive ties and lobbying to uncover network hierarchy and coordination by multinational enterprises to influence policy. In addition to his scholarship, his international experience includes teaching at Nankai University in Tianjin, China and living and working in South Korea and Japan.
