  • International Experience (3 credit hours needed)

To earn a minor in International Studies, you must have an international experience. This will typically be a study abroad program, foreign internship or foreign service project.

Additionally, this requirement can be met through a non-credit international experience of at least 4 weeks in length. If any of the above items are for non-credit activity, the 3 credit hours must be obtained through enrollment in any of the above approved courses. International students will be exempt from this requirement but must achieve the 3 credit hours through other options available.

Our Study Abroad Office has many options for programs, internships and service learning projects. You can check out available programs and chat with a peer adviser about your options!

  • Foreign Langauge Requirement

You must complete the equivalent of 9 semester hours of foreign language (defined as a language that is not the student’s native language). You can count your langauge coursework taken to meet requirements of your major or other programs.

If you have previously established proficiency, you may be exempted by proof of examination. Information on examinations may be obtained from the OSU Testing Center or the Foreign Language Laboratory.

International students are exempt from this requirement.
